AAAAH! I HAVE TO FIND THE THIRD ONE!, February 26, 2000

I’ve read all of L.J. Smith’s series except for the last 2 in this one. I liked Elena’s character (she wasn’t some wimpy kid) and most of her reactions were easy to relate to and weren’t stupid like some girls’ characters can be. I also understand the way she’s torn between Damon and Stefan. Damon reminds me a little bit of THE Gorgeous Shadow Man Julian (The Forbidden Game–another must-read) because of a lot of things (the way he acts and appears/disappears, is graceful, the way he thinks), but Stefan is so devoted and mysterious that I luv him too. The ending of this book was pretty surprising for me, and now I am pulling my hair out waiting to find out what happens in the 3rd and 4th books.

    I LOVED THIS SERIES!, May 22, 2006

Vampire Diaries was a great series!! I didn’t like how the last book in the series was going but it ended up great! The book starts with: girl meets hot vampire Stephen and his also very hot but evil brother Damon. She is in love with the kind hearted Stephen, but evil Damon wants her all to himself. She trys to stay away from Damon but no matter what she does he keeps finding ways to get to her to take her blood, slowly turning her into a vampire. She cannot tell Stephen what is going on because he is still weak from a horrific battle with Damon, and if she would tell him he would become so angry he would try to kill Damon and end up dying because he isn’t strong enough to battle him again so soon. The whole series has a great plot, but I definitly recommend buying all the books before you start reading the series or you will be left hanging untill the next book. Trust me I know! I started reading the Awakening #1 in the Vampire Diaries series, and I had to end up waiting for two months to find the second book and another month to find the third and fourth book. I have read the series about 6 times since last year. L.J. Smith is a great writer, if you like the vampire diaries you should read the Secret Circle series and her Night World series.

    Not a bad read., July 15, 2001

This isn’t a bad read and it’s a quick read too. I love reading vampire novels, and was told I should give it a try. Over all, it wasn’t that bad. I found it interesting that the word “vampire” is never used. If it was, it was done once and I missed it.

This is the story of Stefan, a vampire that wasn’t to put his past behind him, and live a “normal” life as a vampire. He enrolls on school and meets Elena, who falls for Stefan. Some murders happen and all (most all) of the finger pointing goes to Stefan. Stefan has a darker and more evil Brother nanmed, Damon. He too wasn’t Elena. And will kill for her….

Over all it’s a decent book. It’s a YA book, so it’s not heavy on teh vampire aspect. Heck, the vampires could go out in the day. that was a bit over the top for me, but I enjoyed the book.

Smith has a writing style that can keep you hooked to the book. The char are well developed and the plot is interesting to read with a lot of nice twists.

take a chance, you may like it.
