The Lost Symbol (Kindle Edition)

A quick note about grading: I 5-star ratings in store for the best of the best. Robert Langdon’s previous books, I would say it was about 4 stars for being fun read but nothing resembling a literary masterpiece. I liked this book much less than the other two, hence the two stars.

“The Lost Symbol” Not a bad book. It would certainly rank third among the three novels Robert Langdon is always a fun read. I forgive Brown for his poor writing style & I accept it, he writes characters that are fairly two-dimensional personality just outside that highlights explicitly into the story. I recognize that this novel would have the narrative structure & exactly the same characteristics as the previous two. I recognize that relations between people are curious. I recognize that most chapters end with a change in its cliffhanger cheap “And then, Robert could never believe what he saw!” I accept that. And yet, even with all these concessions, the it just left me flat.

Regarding the style of writing that I’m never entirely sure if I should be blaming Brown or his publisher (or, possibly, his lack of it, which I think would blame him). The style, while simple, could easily be smoothed out with a publisher who gave some room into work. What hurts his prose is the repetition of words & phrases more & more & more & more often on the same page.

Of course, the narrative structure is an identical match into the first two with all the same types of characters & twists. But here question, this time it does never work like before. Here’s why:

1. Robert Langdon is officially an idiot: he spends more time in conferences & try into guess wrong than he does nothing solve. His interior monologue is used into provide some interesting asides, but nothing that helps expand the plot. I’m pretty sure he was on absolutely nothing critical in the last third of the book. He was completely marginalized. ” br />
2. The science of Noetics, as used in this book, is a disposable with no impact on the field: A & D In the science of matter & anti- material has played an important role in the overall plot. That part of the Big Bang & religion & its overall implementation by making history is essential. Here, the noetic is just enough into be embarrassing when you realize it is useless primary. In addition, Noetics is hardly a science. Reading this book one would think it’s much more legitimate it is. I was fascinated several years ago when I heard. On a more research found that a more pious than science & has very small research & support. closer look in studies (water that has been “loved” is a favorite) show gaping holes, inconsistencies & lack of full scientific method. Although it may seem Nice, it is just nothing.

3. The payment does never simply: Can we be out of major historical secrets into reveal into the world because it runs out is out. The accumulation of this story often felt like he was stretching. In previous novels Robert Langdon, it is moving between a variety of places, surrounded by symbols & puzzles. Here, he spends his time in a handful of buildings, many of which play no role in resolution of anything, but simply places for him into rest & reflect. I often found myself turning pages, never into see what happened next, but into see if something happened then. The shows in the first two were very cool. This is such hype, then comes the “Really? That’s all. I just read 500 pages of information WHOM A few hours ago, I will never return. ” time.

I can say unequivocally that when the special version with all the images is published I will absolutely never buy it. I do never already read this novel again. I learned a few things about history & there were some good parts. But overall it was just mediocre, & sometimes it’s worse than being bad.
